OPTICA and SPIE student chapters of Yerevan State University, in collaboration with SPIE and OPTICA student chapters of Russian-Armenian University and OPTICA student chapter of The Institute for Physical Research of NAS RA, will host an International school on modern applications of optics and photonics from August 29th to September 3rd 2022 in Yerevan, Armenia. The school brings together experienced scientists from various countries in the field of optics and photonics to provide a perfect setting for the participants to acquire the most recent developments in that area. Moreover, we have the honour of hosting Professor Donna Strickland, who has received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2018 for the invention of the method of generating high-intensity optical pulses. The goal of the school is to give background knowledge to PhD and master’s students, as well as young researchers in the modern application of optics and photonics throughout three distinct sessions, that are
- optical computing session pursuing to deliver the state-of-the-art optical computing approaches and current challenges both in the fields of integrated and free-space optics,
- quantum optics session aiming to provide a privileged vision of quantum optics, in particular, application of semiconductor quantum nanostructures in it, with both a theoretical and an experimental perspective,
- optical sensing and spectroscopy session giving the basics of optical sensing techniques, their applications in various domains in our daily life as well as an example of biosensor numerical modelling.
